Astier de Villatte

Founded in 1996, Astier de Villatte is a manufacturer of ceramics incarnating the Parisian chic. A mix of craftsmanship, creativity and inspirations from all over the world. Within their workshop ancient Tibetan monks realize the fine objects. It's also a brand known for its prestigious collaborations with; painter Setsuko Klossowska de Rola, widow of painter Balthus, or artist John Derian that recycles old images in a multitude of decorative objects.

Ivan Pericoli and Benoît Astier de Villatte met each other in a bar in Saint-Germain in the 90s. The two young artists from the school of Fine Arts in Paris and started working together in the workshop of sculptor Georges Jeanclos. Where they learned how to sculpt with earth. One of their objects featured in the press and they decided to take their chances at the Maison&Objet tradeshow in 1996 which was the beginning of the brand.

Heir to the tradition of the great Parisian ceramic workshops of the eighteenth century, Astier de Villatte creates ceramic pieces using the ancient technique of stamping. Each piece is handcrafted, engraved in the ground, with the signature of the brand, A and V intertwined, and the initials of the craftsman who made the ceramic.
