A true mystical journey, the Myrrh Candle honors one of the ingredients given to Jesus by the three Magi in Bethlehem. Diptyque plunges us into the heart of sacred traditions, where myrrh, incense and wood are burned to connect with the divine. Embellished with notes of pine and styrax, once lit, the candle takes on a fuller dimension and reveals a very powerful trail. We are thus subjugated by the depth and by the character of its aromas with a strong relaxing power.
Real work around the incense and its depth. This one, very strong in the composition, is combined with green notes evoking the smell of pine needles which brings a touch of freshness to the pyramid. The unexpected olfactory: the harmonious association of the resinous chords of the fir tree and the even deeper character of elemi, styrax and myrrh.
Just light the wick and you'll be transported back in time to an Egyptian or Roman temple, one of those sacred places where perfumes were given as gifts to the gods. The delicate scent of myrrh resin slowly burns away, giving the place a sense of meditative relaxation. The warm, balmy and spicy sensations take over every corner of the space and exalt images of beautiful wilderness, Somali desert, overwhelming sun. Suddenly, we remember that the golden myrrh gum was part of the precious gifts of the Magi to the baby Jesus, and the journey through time begins again, a time loop and olfactory delight. "Myrrh, myrrh, myrrh... Always myrrh", as the other said.
Diptyque
The brand was founded in 1961 by three singular personalities united by a strong aesthetic alchemy: Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, Yves Coueslant and Desmond Knox-Leet. Fed with a common passion for drawing, they start creating motifs for fabrics and wallpapers, and decide to open their first shop with two entrances (like a diptych) in Paris, Boulevard Saint Germain.
